PAMELA BENNETT ADER: "REVISITED, REWORKED, REJOICED"
The main themes of my shows are about preserving the environment and the getting the viewer to acknowledge the moods of the each season. How few people use all their senses to see, feel, hear and smell the differences of each month...to allow oneself to be swept up in the colors of each season. Often time one will see roses in my work. I think of the rose as the 'queen of the garden', and have used it as my symbol both of ultimate beauty, serenity, and for the passing of time. From hopeful buds to fading petals there is a wealth of beauty to them all.
As using nature as a theme has been ever present, reviewers have always noted the abstract influence of color and form attributed to my natural surroundings. Yet, what was for me, in the past, a theme, an influence, a muse, has now become much more of a cause. I believe I have a duty and a forum to inform the population to take stock of their surroundings.

Beth Cartland: "From Darkness into Light"
I love the process of painting...the physical process of applying paint to canvas. There is a real sense of freedom in allowing a spontaneous application of color and line to the prepared surface. There is energy in painting that works towards connecting my spiritual as well as my emotional spaces.
The title of the show was inspired by a musical performance of a womens chorus dealing with night into day and the poetry that accompanied the music. "I am the day soon to be born. I am the light before the morning. I am the end and the beginning. I am the light soon to begin. I am the new hope in the morning. I am the darkness soon to be light."
