MING-JEN HSU, 2010 Phoenix Gallery Fellowship Winner Solo Exhibition  The Interior Landscape Ming-Jen Hsu's series, The Interior Landscape, represents scenes from his memory. Stamped in his mind, and interknitted with time, these scenes have nourished his spirit and soul, and today they present a visual metaphor and spiritual narrator of his personal chronology. By depicting them, he has embarked on a journey of self-discovery, using pencil and charcoal to capture remembered images on paper. Each drawing is expressed with single color and chaotic lines, and with texture and shade on the paper. These combine with his emotion and with the complexity of his internal state. Mr. Hsu is the Phoenix Gallery 2010 Fellowship Winner, and a Fine Art Grant Winner, Taipei Department of Culture Affairs, Taipei, Taiwan.
