Phoenix Gallery, NY, Fellowship Program 2013-14

Open to artists working in painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, mixed media or video. Selection will be made from CD or VIDEO ONLY.
Deadline: April 22, 2013.

JUROR: Carl E. Hazlewood, Multimedia Artist, Writer, Curator, Co-founder of Aljira, Center for Contemporary Art, Newark, NJ, born in Guyana, South America.

Winner: Fellowship Benefits:
  • A solo Exhibition June 19-July 13, 2013.
  • Sponsored membership in Phoenix Gallery for 18 months 2013-2014.
  • Participation in member group shows
  • Access to the gallery space and resources during membership

    Fellowship Membership Requirements:
  • Each member is required to abide by the rules set forth in the by-laws of Phoenix Gallery.
  • Participation in gallery projects and attending monthly meetings (unless outside of the NYC area).
  • Each member is responsible for the costs of shipping, publicity, advertising, with the exception of a listing in Art Now, Gallery Guide, Chelsea Art Map, as well as various free listings. (The gallery also has an extensive mailing & e-mailing list.)

    Eligibility Requirements:
     Artists living in the US are invited to apply.

    THE APPLICATION PROCESS:
     Artists wishing to apply are invited to submit the following:
    1. Completed application form
    2. 10 images of artwork on CD. Images must not exceed 2MK and must be in JPEG format. CD'S WILL NOT BE RETURNED
    3. A separate image list, numbered to correspond with the JPEG images, and including the title of the work, medium, size, and date.
    4. Artist resume
    5. A brief artist's statement about the work.
    6. Catalogues, reviews, and brochures about the work. (optional)
    7. $45.00 application fee (check addressed to Phoenix Gallery or Paypal)

    Video
     1. On a DVD submit a segment no longer than three minutes for the jurying process, but also include entire video in a separate file.
    2. Include with DVD the following: Printed list with title, date, and length of video with a description and viewing instructions.
    3. Everything the same as listed above for CD's.

    Fellowship Selection:
    The Juror will select the fellowship winner in April 2013. Selected artist will be notified by May 1, 2013. The Fellowship Winner will have a solo Exhibition in June 19-July 13, 2013.
