On top of that Ms. Firestein creates a narrative collage of figures and animals engaged in activities that animates the surface. My paintings are inspired by landscape, not from just a visual point of view, but from a spatial and inertial experience.  The paintings are meant to be experienced through given elements including size, volume, color, story and visual alliterations using the inertia of space, color and form to expand the experience peripherally.  My larger works are computed to change the experience as one walks through its composition.  The smaller works are more of a visual, spatial and rhythmic conversation.    www.laurawestby.com
