Artist Statement
The brokenness of the world often defies our optimism.
Behind the mixed media works which I create, always lies the hope
that they might - no matter how briefly - offer the viewer a respite,
or a simple lift of heart...and become in some way a moment of grace against
the ever shifting strife surrounding them.
Gretl Bauer lives and works in New York City and Sag Harbor, NY. She is grateful that
the aura of each location widens both the outlook and the materiality of her work...which
is found in many private collections in this country and abroad.
