The Phoenix Gallery - an artist collective - has a long history of being a not-for-profit gallery that serves the artist community. With this in mind, the gallery is introducing a new option: Emerging Artist Shared Membership. This membership will be open to emerging artists. The membership can be shared by two to four artists who would either be proposed by the artists or selected by the gallery.
One active membership dues would be split between these artists. They would be considered full members. They would be included in all group exhibits and events. Their solo exhibition would take place after the second year of membership and the artists would share the gallery space. After this solo exhibition, the shared membership would expire and the artists would be invited to join the gallery as individual active members.
The Phoenix Gallery is an artist collective that supports the idea that a gallery serves the community by exhibiting art that is relevant. Giving emerging artists both a space and an opportunity to exhibit their work with affordable dues, enriches the community as well as the gallery itself.

Art & Design, New York Times "10 Galleries to Visit in Chelsea" by Roberta Smith April 16, 2015
"Chelsea galleries, though referred to in monolithic, often dismissive terms, actually run the gamut from big-box and high-powered to small and scruffy. For proof, visit the artist cooperatives that date from 1970s SoHo at 530 West 25th Street or the block-through building at 547 West 27th Street, a kind of S.R.O. for galleries."
