Artist Statement
Gretl Bauer is a contemporary mixed media artist who works in New York City and Sag Harbor, NY. She has written this concerning her work:
"From the beginning, my instinct has been to create art which might provide a quiet respite, a serene if momentary refuge from the ravages and disorders of the world. However, there is a paradox in this. As time unfolds, an inevitable sense of searching and restlessness emerges in the work. Shadings of sadness and loss --  and yes, hope -- only illuminate the mystery which it is our daily task to confront."

She lives and works in New York City and Sag Harbor, New York.
