Mangroves
Artist’s Statement
The series “Mangroves” was inspired by the Anne Kolb Nature Center in Hollywood Florida. They have preserved a mangrove forest. Mangrove forests were once ubiquitous along the shores and inlets. There are two kinds of mangroves, Red and Black. They are mysterious trees adapted to the brackish waters. The roots curl above and below the surface of the water. Their leaves shine in the sunlight below the amazing Florida clouds. I have tried to capture their magic in paint.
