BULLDOZERS ARE TRUTH
In a town near the Vermont border I met a man named Chip who as a boy, collected every model of Tonka Toy trucks. Together with his boyhood friend, every holiday and birthday brought the newest member of their earth moving vehicles and there was never enough days of play to ever get bored.
But time moved on and as an adult, he had hoped to celebrate 60 + years of owning these “Tonks”. His idea was to display them in some way and finding one model for each of his years, but that search proved to too difficult.
Eventually he just left them outdoors while trying to formulate a plan, and nature took over. These trucks, aged by twigs, roots and rust, transformed his hilltop garage into a scene begging to be photographed.
When asked the motive for his initial effort he admitted that memorializing these trucks was a metaphor for his aging and a remembrance of joyful childhood.
The favorites were the bull dozers which led him to avow to this day that “Bull Dozers are truth”, as they uncover new ground and find what has not been apparent.
