Harriet Sobie Goldstein
"Series in Gold"
My continuing artistic interest has been abstract painting. At the moment, influenced by Byzantine and Japanese art, I am integrating metallic gold as a color into paintings. In these non-objective paintings, the color metallic gold is a metaphor for society’s interest in the accumulation and the display of excessive wealth. As an object, gold is the ultimate precious metal having both political and societal impact.
